Dr. Leon Bromberg Charitable Trust Fund
The Dr. Leon Bromberg Charitable Trust Fund is a testamentary trust created in 1985 by the Will of the late Dr. Leon Bromberg for charitable, educational and research purposes.
Dr. Leon Bromberg was born in Galveston, Texas and graduated from Ball High School in 1916. He also graduated from Rice University and Vanderbilt University College of Medicine summa cum laude and was awarded its Founders Medal in medicine, the highest scholastic award of the University. After a distinguished career as a physician and teacher in St. Louis and as a medical officer in the U. S. Navy during World War II, Dr. Bromberg returned to Galveston in 1955, taking a position as assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas. He also opened a private practice in the city, specializing in internal medicine. He retired from the active practice of medicine in 1969.
